Forró, a music and dance style from the Brazilian north-east … Typical, fun, so different from Samba and at the same time unmistakably Brazilian. A little known entrance into the Brazilian culture! But thanks to Maristela and her free classes which have taken place now for a whole year in the Belgian-Brazilian café Belgaleiro in Leuven, a piece of Brazil has been made accessible that you will not easily find everywhere.
Come and try it out, it’s really worth it!
Oh, and forget about that dancing skill thing. It’s really not about that.
It is one group where everybody works on and shares her/his skills. The basic steps and other forms are repeatedly taught. There are no “levels” and everybody helps each other. The classes take approximatively an hour. Afterwards we put the newly acquired skills into practice during the Forró party!

Forró, een muziek- en dansstijl uit het Braziliaanse Noordoosten … Typisch, fun, zo anders dan Samba en tegelijkertijd onmiskenbaar Braziliaans. Een weinig gekende ingang in de Braziliaanse cultuur! Maar dankzij Maristela en haar gratis lessen, die nu al een heel jaar hebben plaatsgevonden in het Belgisch-Braziliaanse café Belgaleiro in Leuven, wordt een stuk Brazilië toegankelijk gemaakt dat niet zomaar overal te vinden is.

En vergeet of je kunt dansen of niet. Dat is echt niet het punt.
Dit is één groep waar iedereen aan zijn vaardigheden werkt en deze met anderen deelt. De basisstappen en andere vormen worden herhaaldelijk opnieuw getoond. Er zijn geen “niveaus” en iedereen helpt elkaar. De lessen duren ongeveer een uur. Daarna wordt het nieuw geleerde in praktijk gebracht tijdens het Forró feest!
